Čižići is a tranquil village on the Island of Krk, known for its idyllic setting along the Soline Bay and for the therapeutic mud found at Meline Beach. This mud has been scientifically proven to relieve or even eliminate various rheumatic aches and skin conditions, making the Soline Bay an increasingly popular destination for wellness tourism. Thanks to its enclosed bay, warm, shallow waters, and mild climate, the swimming season here begins as early as spring and extends well into the fall, adding to the region’s appeal for visitors seeking relaxation and natural remedies.
The Soline Bay area includes several picturesque villages: Čižići, Soline, and Klimno, each with its own unique history and natural significance. Historically, Meline Beach was a hub for sand export and later a site for brick production; Soline was home to saltpans run by the powerful Frankopan family; Klimno, named after the Chapel of St. Clement (Crkvica svetog Klementa), became known as a shipbuilding center. Just 4 kilometers from Čižići is the historic village of Rudine, which preserves its centuries-old architecture almost fully intact. This charming area is also home to the famous Biserujka Cave, one of Croatia's most visited caves. According to local legend, hidden treasure lies within this cave, adding to its allure alongside its stunning stalactite formations.
While in Čižići, visitors can enjoy traditional Mediterranean cuisine at local restaurants, many offering fresh ingredients and coastal views. Visitors to Čižići can also enjoy a range of outdoor activities, from paddle boating in the bay to cycling and hiking the trails that wind through the lush landscape of the island.
